Raj’s reaction Raj ran an off-licence, and had twice been the victim of armed robbery. One night, a man carrying a long knife came into the shop demanding money from the till. As Raj was being held with a knife to his throat, his brother came through from the back and the robber ran off. Raj was so angry that he got into his van and chased the man down the street, knocking him down and killing him. Raj was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment. The Court decided that he could not have been acting in self-defence because he was, by that time, not being attacked or threatened. |
