Squatters who were able to show that they had been continuously living in the £500,000 house they squatted for more than twelve years won the right to the keys from the London Borough of Camden, the local council.
The squatters had moved into the house in Holborn in 1973 and had successfully resisted all attempts to evict them. Council officials accepted that there was now little they could legally do to remove them.
